How about a trip to Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka Jan

SummaryA Brief Summary

The Pearl of the Indian Ocean. A tear-drop shaped island to the extreme southeast of India, Sri Lanka has long been a destination flocked to for it’s magnificent beaches, highland rainforests, bustling cities, historic heartland and spiritual and diverse communities. While undoubtedly beautiful, with exceptionally friendly locals, Sri Lanka goes through periods of difficulty every now and again, from internal conflicts, to political and economic instability. The latter of which is being felt at the time of writing. While this doesn’t directly impact tourism, the surging inflation and poor political state means hotels and tourist destinations are being impacted by fuel and food shortages. This doesn’t change the fact Sri Lanka is a genuinely beautiful and wonderful place to visit, from the bustling capital Colombo and spiritual hilltop heart of the country, Kandy, to the far northern region of Jaffna and its extensive Indian connections to Galle, the fort town of the south.
In summary, if the political climate is right and the country is peaceful, there are few other places in the world which offer the delights that Sri Lanka does… just check before you book to make sure you have a truly epic holiday

WeatherAbout the Weather

Sri Lanka’s climate varies considerably considering the small size of this tropical Indian Ocean island.  While all regions see uniformly hot and humid weather throughout the year, the south of the island is far wetter than the north, with rain in all months.  There are 2 distinct wet seasons, the first a short one in Apr and May as the monsoon rains move north and the second, from Sep to Dec.  Sunshine levels remain moderate year round at around 7 hours a day, with slightly more from Jan to Feb in the driest time of year.  The north of the island has far less rain, predominantly falling in the last 3 months of the year, while the first 9 are drier and sunnier.  The central regions fall somewhere in between.  Days around coastal regions see highs of 31°c in all months and lows of around 23-25°c.  Inland hillier regions see temperatures 2-3°c lower than this.
