How about a trip to Greece Dodecanese
A Brief Summary
Southern Greece is comprised of the islands of Crete, Rhodes and the remainder of the Dodecanese islands, and while similar in geography and topography to the more northerly Aegean islands, there is a distinct difference in culture further south, particularly on Crete, which is possibly the least “Greek” of the islands and a place where there is a distinct Cretan flavour, with a history dating back from the Minoans, through the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, through to present day. It is a heavily mountainous and large island, with virtually no flat areas and a number of large, deep gorges and valleys between the high peaks, often snow-capped in mid-winter. Trade is dominated by tourism, but agriculture in foods such as olives and oranges provides substantial income. Heraklion and Chania are the 2 biggest towns, and are thriving seaside resorts with bars, cafes, nightclubs and a large number of hotels and resorts, while elsewhere the island is quieter and more low key.
Elsewhere in the region Rhodes (Rhodos) is a large island with a thriving tourism industry, a great deal of history behind it and everything from a significant clubbing scene, to traditional Greek villages and taverna on the coast.

About the Weather
With some of the mildest winter temperatures in Europe and some of the sunniest weather in summer months, the southern Greek islands have a warmer-than-average Mediterranean climate. Summers are extremely sunny and almost totally dry from Jun to Aug, with Apr, May and Sep only slightly cooler, marginally less sunny and fractionally wetter. Temperatures average 27°c during the Apr to Sep period but can close to 40°c during these months. Late Autumn can see heavy showers and strong winds, a trend which carries on through to early Mar. Winds during the summer are strong and from the north.
