How about a trip to France Southwest
A Brief Summary
The largest region of France, approximate in size to Austria, and one of its most diverse, is in the far southwest of the country. It borders Spain to the south and stretches as far north as La Rochelle, the town famed for its use in educational books worldwide and east to the very heart of the country. The west of the region is dominated by the long coastline of the Bay of Biscay, a wild and windy place in winter, but warm and sunny in summer, resulting in some of the very best wines on earth, particularly reds, with the city of Bordeaux at the heart of this. The far south touches on the Pyrenees mountains dividing France and Spain, with wide valleys and snow-capped peaks. The north of the region is flat and heavily agricultural with farms and produce everywhere you look and dotted with countless small towns and villages. To the east the land undulates more, with dense forests, hills and a much more rural feel as you head towards the Massif Central in neighbouring Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes.
Despite its size, its a region often overlooked by those not in the know. Perhaps you’ll soon be “in the know” and discover this fabulous region of France soon

About the Weather
The weather in this southwestern region of France isn’t as sunny or warm as one might expect, a result of the influence the Atlantic Ocean has on the climate here. Winters are cool to mild, but can be cold and stormy with frequent rains. Spring is bright, or even sunny and warms up quickly from Apr to May. Hot weather during spring is not uncommon and can see temperatures into the low 30’s°c. Extreme cold weather here outside of the middle of winter is rare. Summers are very warm or hot with plenty of sunshine and this is also the driest season, although not totally without rains and temperatures ranging from an average of 27°c to maximums of above 35°c during heatwaves. Autumn starts warm and sunny, but by Oct has cooled with the Atlantic exerting its influence as wet and windy weather return
