How about a trip to Australia Northeast QLD
A Brief Summary
The most starkly different region of Australia to the stereotypical red and dusty heart of the country. This region sees extensive rainfall and wet weather and as a result is heavily forested. The terrain is undulating and often quite hilly, with roads that aren’t paved becoming almost impassable with only a little rain, unless you are equipped with a full-on 4-wheel drive vehicle. The coastal area is where the vast majority of the population live, with Cairns by far the largest of the towns here. The beaches can be huge and wide and of soft white sand, but as with most of Australian beaches, they can be isolated unless near to a large town and with jellyfish, sharks, and other unwanted marine life a constant threat. This is also the most commonly used gateway to the extraordinary Great Barrier Reef. Cairns is a large city with the amenities one might expect from such, but it is very isolated and either a very long drive, or 2-3- hour flight to the next nearest city, Brisbane, so if you’re coming here, plan to do some exploring in this wonderfully wild land… you’ll be pleased you made the effort!

About the Weather
From January to March Cairns sees huge rainfall totals, brought about by the monsoon rains which hit the city primarily from November to May. Extensive flooding can be seen during this period with torrential rainfalls further increased by cyclones which impact the region at least once a year on average, sometimes with huge storm surges and severe winds. The Temperatures year-round in the city are often above 30°c with only May to August slightly below this. Humidity levels aren’t as extreme as one might expect from a tropical location with such heavy rain and remain consistent at around 60% throughout the year. June to October is the driest and sunniest time of year, peaking in the latter months with nearly 9 hours sunshine a day and rain every 4-5 days on average. Nights remain warm in all months. Extremes of temperature are unusual, but can occur, more often extreme heat events with 42°c having been recorded.
