How about a trip to Argentina Northwest / Andes
A Brief Summary
Argentine wine country! Fertile land in the foothills of the impressive Andes and extensive sunshine makes for great wine-making country and this is exploited hugely in this area. Away from the vineyards, towns such as Mendoza and San Juan offer lovely food in relaxed and pleasant surroundings with bustling city centres, green squares and plazas and quieter rural backwaters. Away from the cities, this is a vast and open landscape but a beautiful one nonetheless. If mountains are your thing, then this is also the gateway to the Andes and the highest mountain outside Asia, Aconcagua, a 7,000m high behemoth draped in ice and glaciers, but with some superb hiking to those not au fait with an ice axe!

About the Weather
With lower humidity than most of Argentina and one of the sunniest places in the country, it is easy to see why this is the wine-growing region of the country. Summer months are hot and sunny with occasional rain and infrequent heatwaves seeing temperatures well above 40°c. Spring and Autumn here are warm and bright, with moderate humidity and little rain. Winters (Jun – Aug) cool and sunny and mostly dry. Very cold weather can affect this region during these months, with temperatures well below 0°c at night not uncommon.
