How about a trip to Algeria North
A Brief Summary
The north of Algeria is similar in geography to much of the Meditteranean: Rugged, hilly, sometimes even mountainous, with lakes and rivers as well as long sweeping sandy beaches. However, as a result of politics / religion and being within Africa and not Europe, has meant this region of the Med is frequently overlooked in favour of Italy, Spain, Greece etc. While there are significant pros and cons to heading a little further afield to this part of Algeria (the rest of Algeria is nothing but barren, harsh, baking hot desert by the way!), ultimately it will come down to what you’re looking for. If it’s a true beach resort with mulitple towns to explore, cars to hire, restaurants and bars that serve alcohol and a language that is familiar to northern Europeans, then by all means stick to the tried and tested. But, if you’re keen for something a little different, don’t mind a language barrier, want to get a feel for a culturally and historically diverse nation with great food, and friendly locals, but where alcohol is less readily available and accommodation standards often a little behind European locations, then try this neck of the woods. But, make sure to spend a couple of days roaming around the capital, Algiers, by far the largest city in the country and a city with a history dating back to Roman times, large souks or markets, countless coffee shops but with an increasingly modern buzz and vibe about it.

About the Weather
Algiers has a warmer and drier-than-average Mediterranean climate, but with similar sunshine amounts to southern France / Italy. The wettest months are Nov – Feb with frequent showers or heavier rain and occasional storms and temperatures in the high teens. Spring is bright and warm, but with some rain and temperatures reliably in the low 20’s°c. Summers are hot, often rainless and sunny, occasionally very hot with southerly winds from the Sahara and 40+°c is common. Autumn is increasingly cooler and wetter, but still bright and relatively dry until November.
