How about a trip to Ethiopia Desert East
A Brief Summary
Eastern Ethiopia is a harsh, rocky, sandy and substantial desert or semi-desert region. There are a great number of small towns, settlements and villages here, but making your way across this region is far from easy going and will require considerable planning and an adventurous demeanour, while some areas, chiefly those bordering Somalia, should probably be best avoided unless with a very experienced and knowledgeable local guide

About the Weather
Eastern Ethiopia has a very dry, very sunny and hot climate throughout the year. Day time temperatures of 32°c are seen in every month, with highs above 40°c not unusual, especially in spring. Nights are warm year-round with occasional cool incursions every so often. Rainfall is limited to 2 very short and very unreliable periods, firstly from Apr to May and secondly around Oct. These rains don’t always arrive, resulting in devastating droughts which can last years. Dec to Mar is the sunniest period, but year-round sees abundant sunshine
